Mazel Tov! Today is Yud-Aleph Nissan, the 111th Birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. On this day in 1978 President Jimmy Carter established a National Holiday known as “Education and Sharing Day U.S.A.” in honor of the Rebbe’s work. Each year the day is proclaimed on the Rebbe Hebrew birth date which means on the secular calendar, it fluctuates.
For a Chasid to have hiskashrus is one thing, but for a president to say that “few have better understood or more successfully promoted these ideas than Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who emphasized the importance of education and good character.” is a testament that our Rebbe truly is the Nasi for the Generation and even the nations of the world recognize this.
This day is a time for us to reflect on our hiskashrus to the Rebbe, his mission for us, and his expectations of us. The Rebbe didn’t expect us to move mountains, but he did expect us to do a little more today than we did yesterday but even one millimeter constitutes growth. May we merit the complete and true redemption through each of our collective growth in Avodas Hashem culminating with the arrival of Moshiach Tezkeinu B’Karov Mamash.
